Toys R Us Won't Bow Down To Black Friday Shopping Shaming

November 7, 2016
Oh you want to spend Thanksgiving with your family? That's adorable. Let's go shopping.

Some retailers have given in to the Black Friday backlash and won't be open - Mall of America and chain stores including REI and Office Depot will be closed on Thanksgiving this year.

But Toys R Us is allowing you a place to skip the awkward political conversations around the Thanksgiving turkey - they will be opening their doors at 5pm on Turkey Day and keeping them open for 30 hours straight—until 11pm on Black Friday.

"Our customers have voted at the doors year after year, and they continue to want the option to get an early start on their holiday shopping lists," Joe Venezia, executive VP for the company's global operations, said in a statement. No comment from him about how their employees feel about it though.
