Selena's Father Trying To Stop TV Series

December 7, 2016

For fans looking forward to watching Selena and Chris Perez's love story on TV, don't get too excited - her dad isn't happy.

Selena's father is suing Perez (her widower) to stop production according to E!. In a shocking moment of music history, Selena was murdered by her fan club president in 1995 when she was just 23.

In the lawsuit, Abraham Quintanilla Jr. says that, per an estate agreement entered into after Selena's murder, only Quintanilla Jr. holds the rights to "Entertainment Properties," a broad category that includes the use of Selena's name, voice, signature, and photographs. Basically, her widower should not profit from her image after death.

No word on who would play Selena but Jennifer Lopez has done several tributes to the late star and played her in the 1997 movie about her life.
