The Erie County Fair continues through Sunday (8/20) and there’s sooo much to see, do, and eat!  Here are a few of Producer Jimmy’s recommendations so far:

Italian Sausage, Parmesan Garlic Fries, and a Corn Dog from John & Brenda’s Sausage Trailer (Broadway directly across from Midway Park/Chiavetta’s).  I highly recommend all of these items.  Fun fact about John: he started his traveling sausage business in the late 1960’s Click for more details.

Jims Deep Fried Tacos: (trackside) will change your life! Chicken, Buffalo Chicken, or Beef. A MUST EAT!

Colossal deep fried onion: (Broadway directly across from Midway Park) Why Not!? The dipping sauce is excellent!

Corn On The Cob from “Corn Roast”: (Broadway next to Chiavetta’s) First time eating from here and was blown away!  The staff at Corn Roast recommends putting Mayo and Parmesan Cheese on.  Odd combo but it was delicious!

Bourbon Chicken or anything off the menu from Big G’s Concessions:  (trackside) Bourbon Chicken sample was delicious.  This stand is notorious for coming up with unique fair food items.  This year they’re offering a “Deer Burger Deluxe”.  I personally haven’t had the Venison burger but am hearing great reviews about it so far.  The Deer Burger Deluxe is also in the running for the New Food Showdown.

Balsamic Bruschetta on Rustic Flatbread from Salvatore’s Pizza: (at the top of Avenue Of The Flags) Great flavor, flatbread was cooked to perfection!  Also a part of the New Food Showdown.

Italian Sausage Lollipops from Mark’s Pizza & Subs: (Trackside almost across from Channel 7) Outside coating is similar to a corn dog but much tastier with Italian Sausage inside!  New Food Showdown Item.

S’mores Funnel Cake, Deep Fried Cinaminnies from The Gobblin' Gourmet: (Right next to New York Lottery Building) This stand creates the most phenomenal deep fried desserts!  I’ve had everything on their menu except for the deep fried gummy bear and have never been disappointed.

The 1885 Burger from Weidner’s BBQ:  (Located in Kiddie Land just below the grandstand) According to Wikipedia and ECFair.org the hamburger was indeed invented at the Erie County Fair!  There are many different toppings you can put on the 1885 but Jimmy opted for peppers & onions. Tasted REALLY GOOD for a 132 year old burger!

More to come! – Producer Jimmy

p.s. Don’t tell my personal trainer what I’ve been eating! HA!
