Producer Featured During the Oscar's "In Memoriam" Tribute is Actually Alive

This is the mistake from the Oscar awards that everyone will probably forget about, but it did happen. Yes, the best picture snafu was not the only televised error during Sunday's ceremony.

A producer whose picture appeared during the "In Memoriam" segment is actually "alive and well."

Wait. What happened?

Janet Patters, a previously Oscar-nominated costume designer, did pass away in October 2015. The correct name appeared on screen during the montage. The accompanying photograph that was shown on screen, however, was not the correct image.

An image of film producer, Jan Chapman, appeared on the screen instead. Chapman, who actually worked with Patterson on several projects, told reporters that she is actually alive and well.

“I was devastated by the use of my image in place of my great friend and long-time collaborator Janet Patterson," Chapman told Variety after the mistake. “I am alive and well and an active producer.”

Imagine watching the Oscars and seeing your picture appear on screen during the tribute? That had to be pretty freaky!
