Leonardo DiCaprio Signed Up To Go To Mars

October 4, 2016

The White House hosted a South by South Lawn (SXSL) festival of ideas. There were actors, scientists, writers, scholars and people from various fields talking about bigger picture concepts, like climate change.

Leonardo DiCaprio was there and during a panel discussion with President Obama and Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, a climate scientist, he dropped a serious bomb.

Dr. Hayhoe joked that it is important to preserve our planet and that moving to Mars like Elon Musk wants to do isn't realistic. According to Inverse the conversation went something like this...

Dr. Hayhoe: "If you're a human living on this planet—which most of us are, yeah? As long as we haven't signed up for the trip to Mars—I don't want to know if anyone has—I think you're crazy."

Leo: "I did."

Obama: "I think he'll acknowledge he's crazy."

And yes, Musk did say if you want to go to Mars, you'll likely die.

Leo's life is pretty good on Earth so why give it up? Unless he's bored with it. In which case I'll take it.
