Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg, TN

The ultimate family / friends vacation destination!

November 13, 2017

I just got back from my annual Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg, TN vacation.  This is where Dollywood is, but the area itself is also like a giant theme park.

Think Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls and multiply that by five or more.  It's mile after mile of go karts, arcades, mini golf, haunted houses, restaurants, random fun attractions & even a store devoted to Moon Pies!

Every year, one thing becomes the focus of the trip (a breakfast buffet complete with pulled pork, a crazy slick go kart track, a massive stand-alone haunted house, the Ogle Dog, etc).  This year, it was the Jurassic Jungle Boat Ride.  For years, my friends & I drove by it wondering what was inside.  This year, curiosity finally won and it became the talk of the trip (to the point where some were ready to muzzle us lol).  It was a lot longer than we expected and so touristy / cheesy - but that's exactly what we were looking for.  If that's the kind of thing you like, this area is the perfect vacation destination for you.

If you go, plan a minimum of three days - a day for Dollywood and the other two for Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Smoky Mountains (of course) and Sevierville (a mecca for outlet shopping of all kinds).

I'll post more about the awesome food (Ogle Dog!) soon, but for now here's links to stuff I've mentioned above...

Jurassic Jungle Boat Ride

Moon Pie General Store / Book Warehouse

Big Top Arcade (easily the best arcade in town)
